Love it or hate it, April 1st is just around the corner. Looking for the perfect April Fool's Day prank? The Donut Factory in Fairhaven is baking up a sweet one. For the occasion, they'll be serving up three special doughnuts there are not quite what they seem. Trick the taste buds of an unsuspecting friend with their Jello-filled “jelly” doughnuts, salty raised "sugared” doughnuts and yogurt-filled “Boston Cream." Pick up some up before they're gone at Donut Factory's 7 Howland Road location. Order ahead to guarantee your pick at 774-425-4179.

Pink Bean takes Mojo on the road

Pink Bean Coffee, with location in Somerset and Fall River, is taking their popular Mojo on the road. The house specialty iced coffee — a "36 hour process of espresso based deliciousness with enough kick to keep you flying," according to Pink Bean's website — will now be served up at Clements' Marketplace in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. On your way to downtown Newport or its tempting beaches? Drop by the marketplace for a bite to eat at the Blue Lobster Cafe, and grab a Mojo while you're at it. Clements' is located at 2575 East Main Road, Portsmouth.

Love craft beers, animals and the great outdoors? Mark your calendars for Friday, May 19, for Red, White and Brew. Enjoy a wild night at the Buttonwood Park Zoo in New Bedford at this 21-plus event, the proceeds of which will benefit the zoo's educational programs. Ticket purchase provides you with zoo admission, a souvenir sampling glass, unlimited beer and wine samples, animal encounters and live entertainment. Food will also be available for purchase. Red, White and Brew will take place from 6 to 9 p.m., and those with VIP tickets get in one hour earlier. General admission is $50 per person, $25 for a designated driver. When it comes to local beverages, there are few as beloved as coffee milk. What that in mind, Lees Market has some exciting news for all the coffee milk aficionados out there. Silmo Syrup, a longtime local favorite that ceased production 22 years ago, has returned and you can find it on their shelves. Established in 1932, the iconic brand recently made a comeback, now owned by New Bedford City Council President Ian Abreu. Unlike its coffee syrup competitors, what makes Silmo different is that it doesn't have high fructose corn syrup, according to Abreu. The recipe includes Colombian bean coffee extract combined with pure cane sugar, and it doesn't have a molasses-like texture like other brands. Grab your at Lees Market, 796 Main Road, Westport. Silmo is also available in flavors such as chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, almond and piña colada.

With only a few weekends left before they close up for the spring and summer season, come stock up at Blount Clam Shack & Market's Pop Up Soup Store, open Friday, March 31, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, April 1, from 10 a.m. 2 p.m. A Blount truck will be arriving bringing a great selection of cases of soup for $5 to $10 per case. Check their Facebook page for updates on a list of soups that will be available. This week's offerings will be posted Friday at 10 a.m. Soups will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis, so get it while supplies last. The pop-up will take place at the Blount Clam Shack on the Waterfront at 335 Water St., Warren, Rhode Island.

Learn how to cook sushi

Take the En Bon Creative Cooking Class (Sushi) with Chef Ross Young at Yozakura Sushi, 466 Brock Ave., New Bedford. Hosted by the New Bedford Fishing Heritage Center, Chef Young will teach the tricks for cooked and raw sushi dishes through some hands-on and demonstrative teaching. The class will be held from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday, April 5, with tickets costing $50 for the general public, $40 for FHC members and can be purchased at https://bit.ly/FHC-cookingclass-young.
