Aransas Pass' George Acosta named Caller-Times High School Football Player of the Week

Aransas Pass’ George Acosta helped put the Panthers back in the win column with his breakout performance against Skidmore-Tynan last Friday.

The senior running back rushed for a game-best 303 yards and six touchdowns in a 40-34 win against the Bobcats.

The win snapped a 14-game losing streak for Aransas Pass and it also earned Acosta the Caller-Times High School Football Player of the Week award.

What is your most memorable game in high school?

My sophomore year against Ingleside. I had a kickoff return for a touchdown in the third quarter.

Who is the funniest on the team?

The line because they have jokes about anything.

What is your favorite movie?

Friday Night Lights because they're the Panthers, we're the Panthers. Their star player wears my number.

Favorite place to eat in Aransas Pass?

Whataburger. We all go there after home games. It's a hangout spot.

What is something about you most don't know?

This last year I became a lifeguard for the Aquatic Center here in Aransas Pass.

What kind of car do you drive?

A 2005 Ford Explorer Sports Trac.

What is your favorite subject in school?

History because one, it's always been my favorite subject and two, my running back coach is my teacher for history.

Who is going to win the Super Bowl this year?

The Seahawks because we have Geno Smith this year.
