Arby's employee found dead in Louisiana restaurant's walk-in freezer, reports say

Police in Louisiana are investigating a suspicious death after a body was found in an Arby's freezer on Thursday, officials told multiple outlets.

The victim, whose identity has not been released, was an employee of the restaurant, New Iberia Police Department police told local stations KADN and KLFY.

New Iberia Police Capt. Leland Laseter told KADN an employee discovered the body of a female deceased inside the cooler.

New Iberia is located about 21 miles southeast of Lafayette.

The police department could not immediately be reached Friday by USA TODAY.

Autopsy will determine how the victim died

Foul play is not suspected and so far, the death appears to be an accident, Laseter said per KADN.

“A situation like this is unusual, so we’re taking extra precautions during the investigation," he told the outlet.

The case remained under investigation Friday.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the woman's cause of death, KADN reported.

"We're going to re-examine all the evidence," the local outlet reported Laseter saying. "So there are a few more steps that we need to take before a (final) determination is made.
