Archbishop Hoban advances 32 graduates from class of 2022 to college athletics

Archbishop Hoban athletic administrators Matt Bing, Corey Westover and Tim Tyrrell announced that 32 members of the class of 2022 have finalized their college academic and athletic plans.

Seven of the 32 graduates are set to play football in college, including Colton Burkhart at Stone Hill, Charlie Durkin at Kent State, Keshawn Haynes and Bryce Sisak at Marist, Markim McKinnie at Bowling Green, Tyson Grimm at Dartmouth and Davion Jennings at the University of Akron.

Burkhart, Durkin, Haynes, Sisak, McKinnie, Grimm and Jennings played on Hoban's 2020 Division II state championship football team and the 2021 Division II state runner-up football team.

Durkin, Haynes and McKinnie earned All-Ohio honors as seniors.

Hoban 2022 graduate Shawn Parnell was a member of state championship teams in football and baseball, and is set to continue his career on the diamond at the University of Cincinnati. Parnell played wide receiver and defensive back in football and shortstop and pitcher in baseball for Hoban.

Nolan Holmgren, Matthew Terzola and Max Alexander also played on Hoban's 2021 Division II state championship baseball team and the 2022 Division II state runner-up baseball team, and have finalized their college baseball plans. Holmgren is headed to Marshall, Terzola is attending Baldwin Wallace and Alexander is committed to Hiram.

Three lacrosse players and three softball players from Hoban's class of 2022 are going to compete in college.

The three lacrosse players are Elizabeth Russo (John Carroll), Angie George (Gannon) and Mia Gallagher (Grove City).

The three softball players are Alexis Hart (Otterbein), Ellie Hardman (Youngstown State) and Brynn Rheaume (Wooster).

All-Ohio selection Solomon Petrie is playing men’s golf at the University of Kentucky after helping Hoban win a Division I state championship in 2020 and finish as state runner-up in 2021.

Hoban 2022 graduates Lanae Riley and Gracie Schill are set to play women's basketball in college at Middle Tennessee State and Westminster, respectively.

Riley was a finalist for Ohio's Ms. Basketball Award in 2022. Riley finished her career with over 1,000 career points and played in a state semifinal as a freshman (Division II with St. Vincent-St. Mary) and as a junior (Division I with Hoban).

The other 2022 Hoban graduates committed to a college athletic team are: Anthony Dolan (soccer, Ashland); Joshua Sarver (soccer, Walsh); Ariana Mahoney (soccer, Akron); Megan Glinsky (volleyball, Slippery Rock); Annika Nichols (volleyball, Malone); David Lacey (wrestling, Rio Grande); Cassie Klein (cross country, John Carroll); Alexis Phillips (bowling, Ursuline); Peyton Kolasky (dance, Tennessee); Hannah Justice (dance, Akron); Olivia Scott (cheerleading, Duke) and Tori Hamm (dance, West Virginia).
