ARCHERY: Local archers, squads show out at Eastern Nationals

May 15—Cullman County turned in a dynamite performance on the national stage this past weekend.

Vinemont Middle School finished runner-up in the NASP Eastern Nationals (205 teams) and NASP Eastern National IBO/3D Challenge (122 teams) — both events were held in Louisville, Kentucky — while Vinemont Middle's Tucker Robinson and Cullman High's Will Bolzle earned first-place medals in their respective competitions.

Robinson (293 points) secured first individually in the IBO/3D Challenge, besting more than 1,000 archers in the middle school boys division and helping the Eagles (1,706 points) come within two of Benton Middle School (1,708) for the top spot.

Vinemont (3,373) placed second behind Benton (3,407) in the NASP Eastern Nationals as well.

Bolzle, meanwhile, totaled 298 points — two off a perfect effort — in the high school boys division (2,000 participants), tying the highest overall score in the NASP Eastern Nationals with Maysville High School's Mathew Harper and Blair Oaks High School's JJ Quehl.

In other action, East Elementary took home the crown in the Centershot Eastern National IBO/3D Challenge (13 teams) and finished runner-up in the Centershot Bullseye Tournament (24 teams) — as did Vinemont Middle (41 teams).
