ARCHIVE: Hank Aaron visits Sacramento in 1975

In 1975, Hank Aaron visited Sacramento City College where he hit a home run at Hughes Stadium. Hughes Stadium was initially a football stadium that was converted to a baseball field in the 1970s. Aaron is seen warming up, signing autographs and taking one quick shot at bat. Aaron, who endured racist threats with stoic dignity during his pursuit of Babe Ruth’s home run record and gracefully left his mark as one of baseball’s greatest all-around players, died Friday. He was 86.
