After years without a gas station, uptown Seventh Street in Victorville is about to welcome a new ARCO gas station.

The ARCO is located on the northwest corner of Outer Seventh and West Sage streets, and across from Baker’s Drive-Thru.

The business will include eight double gas pumps, a convenience store, and a car wash on the nearly 1.5-acre site about a block north of Green Tree Boulevard.

The location of the ARCO may be convenient for commuters now traveling on Green Tree Boulevard between Victorville and Apple Valley.

The completion of the Green Tree Expansion and Bridge project in May created another east/west corridor, which connects Victorville to Apple Valley’s Yucca Loma Bridge over the Mojave River.

Since the opening of the Green Tree Bridge, traffic has increased along the new corridor that connects both municipalities.

At nearly $47 million, the Green Tree project also benefits the Victor Valley by providing a much-needed travel alternative to Bear Valley Road and Highway 18, city leaders said.

Several commuters who live in Apple Valley told the Daily Press that their new route west to Victorville and Interstate 15 is via the Yucca Loma Bridge and Green Tree Boulevard extension.

The opening date of ARCO has not been announced, however, progress on the station appears nearly complete.

ARCO, which is owned by Ohio-based Marathon Petroleum, was established in 1966 as the Atlantic Richfield Company.

ARCO gasoline stations are located in 15 states across the U.S., including Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Washington and Wisconsin.
