Bundle up, Rochester and prepare for another blast of bitter cold weather.

Meteorologist Jon Hitchcock of the National Weather Service in Buffalo said that a strong cold front is expected to move through the Rochester region on Friday morning. In turn, the temperature will plummet, he said.

At daybreak, the temperature will be at the high of the day, around 20 degrees, and is expected to dip into the teens during the day, then into single digits overnight, Hitchcock said. Saturday's high is around 10.

And with a predicted breeze, it will feel even colder, he said. The wind chill will bring it down to feel like 10 or 15 below zero.

Saturday night is expected to be even colder, dropping to zero or 1 degree, "but it will be calm and without a breeze so it won't feel as cold," Hitchcock said.

Sunday's high is expected to be far warmer, around 25 degrees. The normal high in Rochester in mid-January is 34 and the normal low is 19.

The coldest air and the lowest wind chills will be found east of Lake Ontario, in Jefferson, Lewis and Oswego counties, where a wind chill watch is in place Friday evening through Saturday afternoon as wind chills as low as -30 are possible.

Some snow is also on the way in Rochester, with 1 to 3 inches of snow possible on Friday, according to the Weather Service.
