Area arts organization receive grants from Alabama State Council on the Arts

Sep. 12—Five local arts organizations recently received grants from the Alabama State Council on the Arts.

The grants will support orchestra concerts, youth symphony programs and musical series.

Local recipients include:

—Orchestra Sul Ponticello in Decatur, $7,900 for classical masterworks and holiday concerts

—Decatur Youth Symphony, $14,000 for the "Music for All" season and $13,200 for administrative support

—Princess Theatre Center for the Performing Arts, $11,400 for the 2022-23 performance season

—Athens State University Foundation, $14,200 for Tennessee Valley Old Time Fiddlers concert series

—Muscle Shoals Songwriters Foundation in Limestone County, $6,600 for 2022 festival.

The grants are part of the more than $3.5 million the council awarded to 156 organizations across Alabama.
