Area basketball players honored by District 11 Coaches Association

LANCASTER – The Ohio High School District 11 Coaches Association announced its All-District 11 basketball teams, which include 47 high schools across Delaware, Fairfield, Knox, Licking, Marion and Morrow counties.

Fairfield County was well-represented with four players of the year and two coaches of the year. A total of 43 received honors in their respective divisions.

Taking home top honors were Bloom-Carroll junior Emily Bratton, who was named Division II Player of the Year, senior Abbie Riddle was the Player of the Year in Division III, and Berne Union senior Sophia Kline was the Division IV Player of the Year. Fisher Catholic’s Ben Bethel was the girls’ Division IV Coach of the Year.

On the boys’ side, Millersport senior Trey Johnston was the Division IV Player of the Year, and longtime Fairfield Christian Academy coach Roger Hooper was the Division IV Coach of the Year.

In Division I, Lancaster junior Jenna Grabans was named first team and Molly Stedman was honorable mention.

In Division II, Bratton and Fairfield Union’s Elly Lewis was named first team. Fairfield Union’s Nicole Terry and Marissa Wilkinson were second team, and the Bulldogs’ Tessa Brooks and the Falcons’ Christian Thompson were honorable mention selections.

In Division II, Riddle and teammate, Delaney Peck, and Amanda-Clearcreek’s Emily Buckley were named first team and Amanda-Clearcreek freshman Taylor Evans was second team. The Aces’ Hailey Sowers and the Lions’ Morgan Love were honorable mention.

In Division IV, Kline and teammate Baylee Mirgon, and Fisher Catholic’s Ellie Bruce and Voni Bethel were named first team. Berne Union’s Abi Evans, Fisher Catholic’s Ava Albert, Fairfield Christian Academy’s Madison Clauss and Millersport’s Emily Blevins were second team. Honorable mention honors went to Berne Union’s Hannah Brown, Fisher Catholic’s Averie Bruce, FCA’s Caitlin Blair and Millersport’s Lexi Branch.

On the boy’s side in Division I, Lancaster’s Tre Williams was named second team and Colton Bruny was honorable mention.

In Division II, Fairfield Union’s Caleb Schmelzer and Caleb Redding, and Bloom-Carroll’s Jackson Wyant were named first team. Fairfield Union’s Ted Harrah and Bloom-Carroll’s Michael Whitcraft earned second team honors, while the Bulldogs’ Owen Conrad and the Falcons’ Brennen Rowles were honorable mention selections.

In Division III, Amanda-Clearcreek’s Tucker Shamblin was named first team, Liberty Union’s Noah Shook earned second team honors and the Aces’ Brody Elder was honorable mention.

In Division IV, Fairfield Christian Academy’s Ben Hopple and John Grabans, Millersport’s Trey Johnston and Fisher Catholic’s Hyde O’Rielley were all named first team. Second team honors went to Millersport’s Michael Levacy, Fisher Catholic’s Charley Sumney and Berne Union’s Nate Nemeth. Honorable mention picks we Fairfield Union’s Matt Keener, Fisher Catholic’s Peyton Owens and Millersport’s Wyatt Collins.
