Area bowling: Annette Thompson rolls women's high game of season with 299

Annette Thompson was quietly moving through her Friday Wanna Bees session at Port Huron Lanes with a couple of games close to her average, but decided to add some excitement for the third game. She fired the first 11 strikes to knock down the women’s highest game of the season with an outstanding 299. Despite the uncooperative 10 pin that stood after that last shot, Thompson bested her previous high game of 279 and finished with a 658 series, which was also high for the week.

Ryan Kowalski picked up his fifth 300 game, this time in the Cowboys & Indians league at Port Huron Lanes. Kowalski went on to lead the league with a 759 series. Dave Fuller threw a 298 game in the Tuesday Classic league at Strikers Entertainment Center.

Chris Stemmer led all bowlers this week with his 774 series in Tuesday Classic. His high game in that session was 276. Scott Badley topped the Saturday Nite Bridge league at Port Huron Lanes with a 762 series that included a 279 game. Nick Medley was second in Tuesday Classic with a 756 set. Chuck Ouellette heads of the rest of the top series with a 740 in Saturday Nite Bridge. He was followed by Cliff Crawford 728, Mark Welsh 727, Jim Gostovich 722, Don Nichols 717, and Terry Thompson 715.

Three more women reached 600 series with Brenda Bruehan leading the way at 624 in Friday Wanna Bees. In Saturday Nite Bridge, Kate Beck tossed a 604 while Jessica Badley assembled an even 600. Other strong outings were Terry Crampton 599, Dara Sinclair 596, Shawna Lentner 596, Georgiana Wenckovsky 586, Kristen Winkler 585, Marleen Bachand 582, Amanda Long 580 and Jenny Klein 571.

Shawna Lentner pitched a 246 game in Cowboys & Indians. Amanda Long shot a 239 game in Saturday Nite Bridge. Lee-Ann Hill had a 233 in Friday Wanna Bees. They were followed by Jessica Badley 225, Marleen Bachand 224, Deanna Worden 222 and Terry Crampton 221.

There were a trio of 279 games, including Don Nichols, Don Lumley and Jose Ganhs. The remainder of the high games were Mike McCoy 278, Cliff Crawford 277, Steve Lewicki 277, Josh Bombard 277 and Eric Schott 275.

Special Mention: Matt Tanton was 93 pins over average with a 269 game and 134 over for series at 662 in the Port Huron Hospital AM league at Bowl O Drome. In that same session, Mike Froh was 76 over with a 225 game and 129 over for series with a 576. Chris Sills shot a triplicate 224 in the Blue Water Mens league at St. Clair River Lanes.
