Area bracing for upcoming storm

Jan. 25—NORWALK — Huron and Erie counties are under a Level 1 road advisory.

Snow this morning will mix with rain at times this afternoon. High 38. Winds ESE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of precip 100%. Snow accumulating 1 to 3 inches.

It will be variably cloudy with snow showers tonight. Low 31. Winds W at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of snow 70%. About one inch of snow expected.

Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads may also be icy. Motorists are urged to drive very cautiously.

Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads may also be very icy. Only those who feel it is necessary to drive should be out on the roads. Contact your employer to see if you should report to work. Motorists should use extreme caution.

LEVEL 3:

All roadways are closed to non-emergency personnel. No one should be driving during these conditions unless it is absolutely necessary to travel or a personal emergency exists. All employees should contact their employer to see if they should report to work. Those traveling on the roads may subject themselves to arrest.

All local schools canceled

NORWALK — The storm heading our way has forced the cancelation of all area schools today.

The weather is expected to get worse as the day goes on.

Democratic meeting postponed

NORWALK — Due to expected treacherous weather, the Huron County Democratic Party has postponed Wednesday's Central and Executive Committee meeting to take place Friday, Jan. 27.

The meeting will be held in Norwalk at the Milestone Event Center, 11 South Prospect St. Doors open for a potluck dinner at 6 p.m., with the meeting following at 7.

On the agenda is the approval of a nomination to a seat on the Huron County Board of Elections. The party will also approve appointments to the Policy, Central, and Executive Committees. Planning for 2023 will also take place.
