Fairbury Boy Scout Troop 1870 holding a Spring Outreach event

FAIRBURY — Boy Scout Troop 1870 will be holding a Spring Outreach event on Saturday, May 21, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Fairbury Yacht Club (at the westernmost lake west of Fairbury on Route 24 — 18517 E 800 North Rd).

This event will include a catch and release fishing derby — prizes for the biggest fish and the most fish caught. Bring your own poles, tackle/bait and lawn chairs. There may be limited extra gear and bait available.

Troop 1870 scouts will teach visitors various ways to start a fire. Hot dogs and s'mores will be provided by the Troop for roasting on fire you help build.

All youth currently in fifth grade through age 17, with a guardian, are welcome. For more information, contact Scoutmaster Scott Ziller via email at sm@troop1870.org.

CHATSWORTH — Memorial Day services, sponsored by the Chatsworth American Legion, will be held Monday, May 30, at three locations.

The first service will be at Germanville Cemetery at 8:30 a.m. The second service will be held at 9 a.m. at Catholic Cemetery. The third service will be at 9:45 a.m. at Chatsworth-Charlotte Cemetery.

In the event of rain, services will be at the Chatsworth Legion Hall at 10 a.m.

The Chatsworth American Legion post will holding its monthly Steak Supper on Wednesday, May 18. Orders will be taken beginning at 4:30 p.m. with doors opening for dine-in and carryout service at 5 p.m.

PTHS Awards Night

Pontiac Township High School will be holding its annual Awards Night on Wednesday, May 11.

The annual event will include the awarding of the scholarships and other recognitions. Among the honors being bestowed will be the naming of the DAR Good Citizen to Grace Mund of Pontiac Township High School.

The ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Free COVID-19 test kits at LCHD

Free at-home COVID-19 test kits for Livingston County residents are available for pickup at the Livingston County Health Department (LCHD). Supplies are limited and distributed on a first come, first served basis. The LCHD is located at 310 E. Torrance Ave., Pontiac, and open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
