AREA DIAMONDS: Dewey, OUHS and other teams heat up in early April
Mid-April's arrival means the final stretch for the season for many area high school baseball teams.
Following is a breakdown for some of the squads.

DEWEY
The Doggers made a major move in after mid-March to turn their season around.
Starting on March 17, they have pieced together a 10-3 record to improve to 12-10 overall.
In a 9-3 victory last weekend against Caney Valley, Zane Griggs delivered big time for Dewey by ripping a double, single and driving in four runs.
Trent Muninger, Hunter Catlin, Logan Alspach and Conner Moody each plated one run. Muninger and Alspach also each belted a double.
On the mound, freshman Parker Garrison hurled 2.2 innings while giving up one run and striking out six batters. Lathe Griggs notched four K's in 2.1 innings.
Rocky Hester recorded a RBI for Caney Valley, while Tate Longan stole two bases. Longan, Easton Davis and Dalton Martin ripped a hit apiece.
But, on Monday, Berryhill scored 11 runs in the fifth inning and knocked off Dewey, 15-5.
Dewey is now 13-11.
The Doggers wrap up their regular season on April 24. One of their key home dates will be on April 13 against Nowata.

CANEY VALLEY
Caney Valley has had an interesting campaign of ups and downs.
The Trojans stumbled into the season at 0-4 and 2-7, but are 7-4 in their last 11 games.
Last week they numbed Nowata, 12-3.
Longan proved to be volcano at the plate -- 4-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and four runs scored.
Logan Fowler tacked on a double, homer and three RBIs; Cooper Brim socked two doubles and plated two runs.
Hester also notched two RBIs.
Kohl Shephard pitched the distance for the Trojans and snapped off a three-hitter, with two walks and a strikeout._
NOWATA
Nowata owns a 7-9 record and is coming off a 13-4 win last weekend against Chelsea.

OKLAHOMA UNION
The Cougars are ripping through their schedule with a 14-4 record, which includes a 7-0 record in April.

COPAN/WESLEYAN CHRISTIAN
This co-op squad has accumulated a 12-3 record going into its final week of regular season play.
The team has won its last three by a combined score of 49-12.

BARNSDALL
The Panthers own a 16-5 mark as they rev up for the playoffs.
They are 6-2 in their last eight games.
