MILLSAP 40, JACKSBORO 33

JACKSBORO – Jacksboro was involved in a three-straight District 5-3A Division II matchup that featured a wild finish Friday. Only this time, the Tigers were on the wrong side of the insanity, suffering a 40-33 loss to Millsap.

The defeat dropped Jacksboro (5-4, 3-2) all the way to the fourth seed, putting the Tigers into a first-round matchup against Holliday at 7 p.m. Thursday in Graham.

Twice it looked like Jacksboro would give itself a chance to tie the game in the final minutes. The Tigers got to the Eastland 6-yard line on a long pass, but a sideline interference penalty set them back. They overcame the mistake and got back inside the Eastland 5 on a screen pass.

But the Tigers fumbled the ball while going into the end zone, and Millsap recovered the seal the win.

It spoiled a big night by Jacksboro quarterback Lando Belcher, who completed 23 of 37 passes for 388 yards, three TDs and one interception. Belcher also rushed for a score. Peyton Kinman caught eight passes for 208 yards and two TDs. The Tigers finished with 509 total yards.

But Millsap answered with 501 yards, including 359 rushing, Waylan Dunn had 284 and two TDs on 31 carries.
