Area golfers compete in Class B Boys-Girls Classic, Dakota Valley Girls Invite

MITCHELL — Golfers from Webster Area, Clark-Willow Lake, Edmunds Central, Faulkton Area, Ipswich, Selby Area and Doland competed Monday in the Class B Boys and Girls Classic at the Lakeview Golf Course.

Gregory shot 242 and won the 22-team boys division by three shots over Sully Buttes. Faulkton Area and Webster Area each tied for fifth at 253 and Ipswich was seventh at 255. Edmunds Central shot 267, Doland 280 and Clark-Willow Lake 306.

Gavin Colson of Sully Buttes won the boys division with a 72, beating Eli Fogel of Gregory by four shots. Cooper Long of Lyman shot 77 and Tray Hettich of Selby Area a 78 along with Camden Schmidt and Taylor Kriech of Colman-Egan.

Blaize Amdahl of Webster Area led area golfers, tying for seventh with a 79. Other area golfers in the top 25 included Briggs LaBrie of Doland (11th, 80), Drake Mueller of Faulkton Area (13th, 81), Tucker Kadlec of Ipswich (18th, 83), Layne Cotton of Faulkton Area (21st, 84) and Ian Lesnar of Webster Area (24th, 85).

Miller edged Chester Area by one shot (274-275) to win the eighth-team girls division.

Ayla McDonald of Chester Area took medalist honors with an 83, followed by Jacye Pugh of Miller (84), Adisyn Indahl of Burke and Brynn Roehrich of Clark-Willow Lake (each 90s) and Jadyn McDonald of Chester Area (91).

Other top-25 area golfers in the 45-golfer field included Trisha Cramer of Faulkton Area (11th, 96), Jacie McCune of De Smet (12th, 97), Jalen Holm of Clark-Willow Lake and Maize Baumann of Selby Area (tied for 17th with 101s) and Bailey Ninke of Webster Area (19th, 102).

Dakota Valley Girls Invite

NORTH SIOUX CITY — Katie Betsworth of Dakota Valley earned medalist honors and Sioux Falls Christian took the team title in the Dakota Valley Girls Golf Invite on Monday at the Two Rivers Golf Club.

Betsworth shot a 10-over 80 and topped a field of 60 golfers, winning by three shots over Ronnie Wilharm of Vermillion. Claire Lamfers and Aubrie Van Beek of Sioux Falls Christian followed with rounds of 84 and 85, respectively. Vermillion's Stefanie Carr also shot an 85.

Sioux Falls Christian shot 348 and won the team title by seven shots over Vermillion. Aberdeen Roncalli was 10th at 439.

Claire Crawford led Roncalli, placing 27th with a 98. Other Cavaliers and their scores included Grace Seyer (103), Morgan Helms (118), Ava Danielson (120) and Reese Henrich (132).
