Woodturners Guild & Zella Groop Exhibit Opening Reception, 5 p.m.-7 p.m., Thursday, Wayne County Center for the Arts. Exhibit runs through Sept. 24. Hand-turned work by North Coast Woodturning. Zella Groop was a self taught painter, beginning as a small child. Over the years, the subjects of her paintings were usually scenic, colorful landscapes and rural farm settings in Wayne County and the surrounding areas.

"Seussical, Jr.",Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Renaissance Theatre in Mansfield. The Mansfield Youth Theatre (MY Theatre) will preform 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Dauphne Maloney directs the show with musical direction by Brian K. Nabors. Metamorphosis, 7 p.m. Friday, Wooster Mennonite Church. An evening of debut original music by Lee Miller Matsos, covers and praise and worship songs. Featuring Tim Shue and other local musicians. A freewill donation will be accepted to benefit Mennonite Central Committee's Ukraine Emergency Response, which offers aid in the areas of trauma healing, emergency housing, supplies and food packages for people in need.

Fanfare for a New Beginning, 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Robert M. & Janet L. Archer Auditorium at Ashland High School, 1440 King Road. The Ashland Symphony Orchestra opens its 53rd season with music director and conductor Michael Repper. Tickets are $24 for adults and $21, seniors. Child and student tickets are free with the purchase of an adult or senior ticket, though they may be purchased for $5 each to benefit the Symphony. Molto Bella Auto Show, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Sunday, Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens, Akron. A array of vintage Ferraris, rare classics, custom and exotic sports cars and other high value vehicles are included in the more than 300 cars displayed on the Great Meadow, with the historic Manor House and gardens as a backdrop. McCray Martin, 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, at the First Christian Church in Ashland. The Big Bands & All That Jazz Society of Ashland will present a concert featuring the young composer, arranger, and musician McCray Martin and his band Abstractions. Erin Brockovich, 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Kent State Stark Conference Center. Tickets are free and available to the public beginning 8 a.m. Monday at Kent State University at Stark’s Main Hall.

Airplane Fly-in & Pancake Breakfast, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sat., Sept. 17 at the Wayne County Airport by theChapter 846, a local chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association. Every child under 16 will receive a free balsa airplane of their own to make and fly.  A pancake breakfast, including sausage, eggs and coffee or juice, can be purchased all morning. All funds raised during the event will go to support the chapter and its activities.

PGP Crawfish Boil, 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, Christmas Run Park Pavilion #3, Wooster; $10 a bowl. 3-point shootout, corn hole tournament, treasure hunt and more.

The Wine, Beer & More, 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22; annual fundraiser for Main Street Wooster. There will be four locations offering local to international wines and beers for sampling. Standard admission is $50 each while the VIP admission is $100 each.

Historical Society Living History Cemetery Walk, 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, Ashland Cemetery. Ashland’s historical figures will come to life through local re-enactors. The Living History Cemetery Walk is appropriate for families and people of all ages. The event is open to the public for a suggested donation of $5. No reservations are required.

Arts Council Chocolate Walk, noon-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, Medina Square. Tickets will be available for purchase Sept. 13-Oct. 13 for $30. If there are any tickets left, last minute tickets will be available Oct. 14 and 15 for $40. Tickets can be purchased at www.medinacountyartscouncil.org. The Chocolate Walk raises funds for grants to Medina County arts teachers and arts organizations, scholarships to graduating seniors who have excelled in the arts, and free arts performances and experiences during the annual Arts Week.

Savor & Sip, 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, Mid-Ohio Conference Center, Mansfield. The Savor & Sip event is a celebration of all things culinary, from appetizers, entrees, desserts, pastries and beverages, from some of the area's finest restaurants, caterers, bakeries, delis and beverage companies. There will be entertainment and a silent auction. Entry is $20 per person when registered by Oct. 11. Attendees are encouraged to register via the event calendar at richlandareachamber.com.

The Wayne County Historical Society’s eight-building campus is open every Saturday, with tours at 1 and 2:30 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, free for those 14 and under. In addition to the permanent collection, special exhibits include “Dean Chance: His Life and Legend”, “Wayne County Men & Women in WWII”, and “A Season of Quilts: Summer.” The historical society is located at 546 E. Northern Ohio Railway Museum, 5515 Buffham Road, Seville, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturdays through Sept. 28. On the second and fourth Saturday of each month (weather permitting) ride an historic 1914 trolley car, Shaker Heights Rapid Transit car 12, on the museum’s demonstration railroad. Trolley rides are scheduled every hour on the hour 11 a.m.-3 pm.
