"The Nutcracker," 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday, presented by Holmes Center for the Arts at the Ohio Star Theater in Sugarcreek. For a shortened story version of "The Nutcracker," attend a 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11. This show is specifically designed for those new to ballet and families with young children. Bethlehem Alive, 6-8 p.m. Friday-Sunday, Wayne County fairgrounds, Wooster. Presented by Bright Life Players. Enter off Old Lincolnway West, across from Chevrolet of Wooster, onto Killbuck then follow signs to the welcome tent. Tours last about 30 minutes for groups of 10-12 people. Christmas Craft Show, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, St. John's Church, state Route 30, west of Millersburg.

A Christmas Season Artist's Showing, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, Salem Mennonite Gallery, 3363 Zuercher Road, between Dalton and Kidron. The work of Kidron landscape artist J N Salsburey will be on display. He works in oils, acrylic and watercolors. His online gallery can be viewed at www.JNSalsDesign.com. The artist will also work onsite.

Moreland Church of God and Hughes log cabin Christmas open house, 2-5 p.m. Sunday, state route 83, Moreland. View the restored Church of God and the in-progress restoration of the Hughes log cabin. The event is free and open to the public with ample parking and refreshments.

A Yuletide Tour of the Brinton House, 603 Center St, Ashland, 4-9 p.m. Saturday and noon-5 p.m. Sunday. Brinton House decked out for Christmas in all its Victorian splendor. Artisans will have wares for sale. There will be no charge but donations will be accepted at the door. Donations will go to the Anne Von Kamp Parsons Memorial Scholarship Fund.

"The Nutcracker," 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, Wooster High School Performing Arts Center, presented by Ballet Wooster. Cast of nearly 90 dancer. Adults $15, students, seniors and children $10. Tickets may be purchased at www.balletwooster.org.

Storybook Trail at Kingwood Center Gardens, featuring "Good Night, Bat! Good Morning, Squirrel!," 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Tuesday-Sunday, along the Nature Trail that begins at the Peacock Playhouse. General admission is $5 for 13 years and older; admission is free for children 12 years and younger, and for Kingwood members. The center is located at 50 N. Trimble Road, Mansfield.
