Area happenings: Here comes Santa and Window Wonderland

Community Meal, 5-6 p.m. Thursday, Jeromesville Lutheran Church, 18 E. North St. The free meal includes turkey and dressing casserole, mashed potatoes, green  beans and pumpkin dessert. A Motown Christmas, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Canton Palace, 605 Market Ave. N., Canton. Tickets are $54, $49, $44 and can be purchase at the Theatre Box Office, using the eTix ticketing platform.

Fall Dance Concert, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, College of Wooster’s Freedlander Theatre, 329 E. College Ave. The concert is free and open to the public, but audiences are encouraged to reserve tickets in advance. The box office will open Monday. Christmas Tree Lighting, 7 p.m. Friday, downtown Wooster. Santa will descend from the top of the Briggs Building and then listen to the Christmas wishes of kids. Horse-drawn carriage rides, toy train tides and live reindeer. Windows for Window Wonderland will be unveiled at 3 p.m.

"It's A Wonderful Life" and "Saturday Matinee," 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Smithville High School. Admission is $8. Tickets for the show, presented by Green Local Drama, may be purchased at greenlocaldrama.com.

GTCPS Gun Show, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, GTCPS Community Center, 148 S. Milton St., Smithville. Fundraiser to support its nonprofit organization. There are 40-45 tables. Admission is $4, ages 12 and under free. There is a lunch stand by donation.

Repair Cafe, 1-4 p.m. Saturday, St. Paul's Church, 100 E. High St., Mount Vernon. Bring those things you haven't had the heart to throw away that might just be repairable. Free event.

Swiss Steak Dinner, 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Beach City American Legion Hall Post 549, 125, Third Ave. NE. Drive-thru or carryout only. Meal includes three-bean salad, applesauce, mashed potatoes/homemade gravy, corn, bread and dessert for the cost of $12.

The driver will make stops and guests may hop on-hop off as they please. Cars can park at the Wayne County Public Library, 220 W.
