Candidates Night, 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Ballroom at Shisler Conference Center, Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center, Wooster. The League of Women Voters of Wayne County will host candidates for county commissioner, state representative, US Congress and judge for the 9th District Court of Appeals. The candidates will each have an opportunity to speak, and will participate in Q&A. The Algonquin Mill Fall Festival, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday-Sunday, Algonquin Mill Complex, 234 Autumn Road SW, Carrollton. Admission is $8 per vehicle. Attractions include a steam-powered flour mill, pioneer village and homemade foods, including apple butter, sauerkraut, cookies and bean soup. Breakfast by donation includes pancakes, eggs, potatoes, sausage, coffee and orange juice. The Bucket & Beans car show registration will start at 11 a.m. Car show will be held at Marshallville Historical Society. Car show is noon-4 p.m.; $5 entry fee for car show. 5k Dirty Dog Jog, 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, Wilderness Center, 9877 Alabama Ave. SW, Wilmot. Run is presented by PAWS (Promoting Animal Welfare) for the Wayne County Dog Shelter. The cost is $40 per person.

Smithville Harvest Fest and Market, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 15, Smithville Community Historical Society. There will be live demonstrations, Pioneer Village tours, live music, food and, new this year, a harvest market. The market will feature local vendors offering baked goods, handcrafted candles, jewelry, soaps, home and holiday decore, handmade beauty products using local honey, boutique clothing, customized tumblers and cutting boards, handcrafted cards, bags and purses.
