Area Legion baseball roundup: Parkston wins its first game in the Region 4B tournament.

Jul. 22—PARKSTON — Kaleb Weber's nine strikeouts propelled Parkston to a 3-0 win over Mount Vernon/Plankinton/Corsica-Stickney in Region 4B American Legion baseball action on Tuesday.

Kade Bialas went 2 of 3 and had two RBIs for Parkston. Weber pitched all seven innings, striking out nine and allowed one hit.

Hayden Plamp took the loss for Mount Vernon/Plankinton/Corsica-Stickney He struck out four, surrendered three runs and three hits in seven innings.

Hartford/Humboldt 13, Canova 8

CANOVA — Hartford/Humboldt and Canova combine for 26 hits in a Legion baseball game on Tuesday.

For Canova, Riley Genzlinger went 4 of 5. Colton Spader had three hits while Paul Winker chipped in with two.

Ryder Erickson pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed seven runs and six hits. Luke Koepsell pitched two innings and allowed two hits and two runs. Spader pitched 1 2/3 innings as well. He struck out three, but allowed four runs and two hits.

Ryan Headly, Bennett Sebert, Landry Knight and Cooper Maras all had two hits each for Harford/Humboldt. Knight also had three RBIs while Maras had two.

Adam Parsons pitched 4 1/3 innings, striking out four, but allowed four hits. Gavin Koch pitched 2 1/3 innings. He struck out four, but allowered seven hits and four runs.

Hardford/Humboldt plays Salem on Friday, July 23. Canova (9-4) will play the winner of Hardford/Humboldt vs Salem on Saturday, July 24.

Alexandria 17, Menno/Scotland 8

PARKSTON — Alexandria tallied nine runs in the third inning to win a Legion baseball game against Menno/Scotland on Tuesday.

For Alexandria, Casey Haynes went 3 of 5 and scored three runs. Jackson Jarding went 2 of 2 and scored two runs of his own. Hayes, Jake Doyle, Josh Strang and Chase Arend each had two RBIs.

Hunter Robinson pitched three innings for the Angels and struck out five. Doyle pitched 2 1/3 innings, struck out four, but allowed two hits. Hayden Bahmuller pitched one inning and allowed five runs and four hits.

For Menno/Scotland, Jacob Schott and Austin Pillsbury each had two hits while Schott also added three RBIs.

Treyton Sayler pitched five innings for Post 152. He struck out five, but surrendered 14 runs and nine hits. Tyrus Bietz pitched one inning, struck out two batters, but allowed three runs and two hits.

Canova 7, Clark 0

CANOVA — Canova scored three runs in the second and four in the sixth to shut out Clark on Tuesday in a Legion baseball game.

Canova had 10 hits as a team, two from Luke Koepsell and two from Jaxon Kampshoff. Kieffer Klinkhammer scored two runs for the team.

Jack Neises pitched 6 1/3 innings. He struck out six, but allowed four hits.

Clark's pitcher Hudsen Fuller took the loss in this game as he struck out five, but allowed seven hits and five runs in five innings. Trey Huber pitched one inning and allowed three hits and two runs.

Chamberlain 19, Winner/Colome 13

WINNER — Despite Chamberlain's seven errors, it won a high-scoring Legion baseball game against Winner/Colome on Tuesday.

For Winner/Colome, Jack Peters went 2 of 5 with two RBIs. Aiden Barfuss chipped in with two hits and scored three runs.

Slade Cournoyer pitched three innings and allowed eight runs and six hits. Peters pitched two innings and allowed four runs and three hits.

Madison 15, Flandreau 5

MADISON — Madison recorded 12 hits against Flandreau to end this game in five innings on Tuesday in a Legion baseball game.

Madison scored five runs at the bottom of the third and fifth.

Braden Eimers went 3 of 3 with two RBIs. Trey Smith, Sam Olson, Colby Vostad and Zach Whitlock each had two hits. Smith, Vostad, Eimers and Logan Allbee all chipped in with two RBIs apiece.

Riley Kearin pitched all five innings, striking out four batters, but allowed eight hits and five runs.

For Flandreau, Kolby Peters went 3 of 3 and scored two runs while Ryan Voelker went 2 of 2 and had three RBIs.

Kolby Peters pitched 4 2/3 innings for Post 70. He allowed 15 runs and 12 hits.
