FRIENDS OF RODMAN FUNDRAISER – Friends of Rodman Public Library plans a fundraiser April 26 at Buffalo Wild Wings, 310 W. State St. in Alliance. Diners at BW3 can present a ticket obtainable at the library or tell their server they want to support the Friends of Rodman Library in order for 15% of their total bill to be donated to the Friends group. Eligible sales include dine-in and takeout orders, but third-party delivery services are excluded.

STARK STATE ACADEMY – Stark State College is accepting applications until April 21 for its next law enforcement academy, which runs June 5 to Dec. 10. Classes in this academy are scheduled 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Financial aid is available. All instructors are certified by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission. Graduates of the academy program are eligible to take the Ohio Basic Peace Officer Certification examination. FABRIC FRENZY – The Ohio State University Mahoning Country Extension Office plans its 4th Fabric Frenzy from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 16; and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 17. Event is open to the public at the Extension Office at 490 S. Broad St. Canfield. Browse a large selection of fabric and other sewing items. There are a wide variety of colors, patterns and sizes of fabrics available. All items will be offered to 4-H members interested in doing sewing projects. These items will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis for a freewill donation toward Mahoning County 4-H youth development. Sewing items include hem strips, embellishments, ribbon, lace, zippers, needles, pins, elastic, stuffing, scissors, thread, yarn, patterns and buttons. Mahoning County OSU Extension Office will accept sewing material donations from May 1-12 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Contact the extension office with any questions at 330-533-5538.

SWISS STEAK – Pike Grange, 1421 Battlesburg Road SE in East Sparta, has announced a drive-thru Swiss Steak Dinner from 3 p.m. until sellout on April 29. Dinners cost $14. Menu is Swiss Steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, rhubarb sauce, applesauce, bread and dessert. For information call Jenny at 330-806-9362.

PLANT SALE – Copeland Oaks Retirement Community, 800 S. 15th St. in Sebring, plans a plant sale May 5-6 at the Beeghly Fountain to support its library. Sale hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 5; and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 6. Plants available for purchase include annuals from River’s Bend, such as hanging baskets, succulents, 4- and 6-inch geraniums; begonias, petunias, lantana and herbs. Although Copeland Oaks provides the space for the library, and the Friends of the Library provides some funds, this volunteer organization relies on the plant sale as its main source of operating income.
