SEBRING COUNCIL – Sebring Village Council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at Village Hall. Among topics for discussion is a request to the county auditor to certify to council the current tax valuation of Sebring Village and the amount of revenue that would be generated by an additional 4.5-mill tax levy for the Fire Department. The board also is expected to recess into executive session for the purpose of discussing pending litigation.

CAREER EXPO – Marlington Local Schools will play host to a Career Expo May 11 in Marlington High School’s gymnasium at 10320 Moulin Ave. in Lexington Township. Sessions will include opportunities for students and community members. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., students can meet with prospective employers; and community members will be welcome from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Area companies are welcome to attend free of charge, and can reserve space to conduct interviews and promote their employment opportunities. STORYBOOK TRAIL – The Brightside Project plans a kickoff celebration for its Storybook Trail at Salem’s Waterworth Memorial Park from noon to 2 p.m. May 6. The event was rescheduled due to weather concerns. The Brightside Project, a Columbiana County agency that works to equip and empower children, worked with Salem Parks and Recreation to create a trail that features kiosks that help guide walkers through a children’s book as they move along. MOUNT UNION MUSIC – University of Mount Union will present two music shows this week on campus. First up is a Spring Band Concert featuring the Concert Band at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Brush Performance Hall in the Giese Center for the Performing Arts. The show will feature works by Pierre Leemans, Aaron Copland, Hans Zimmer and John Philip Sousa. At 7:30 p.m. Saturday, University of Mount Union’s Kantorei, Men’s Ensemble and Cantus, under the direction of Dr. Grant Cook, will present a spring concert entitled “Refuge” at 7:30 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Church in Alliance. The event, featuring Amy Haines as collaborative pianist, will include pieces by composers such as Edward Grieg, Robert Schumann, Felix Mendelssohn and Randall Thompson. BELOIT COUNCIL – Beloit Village Council and its Board of Public Affairs will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at Village Hall to discuss possible litigation regarding water and anything else that may come before the board.

LUNCH & LEARN — Columbiana Women’s Club plans its rescheduled April Lunch & Learn event for May 22. The club is a civic organization operating a century house on North Main Street in Columbiana. The May 22 event will feature Maria Matthews on “Venezuelan Cooking & Customs” at the CWC’s Clubhouse at 121 N. Main St. Seating is limited. STARK VETERANS – Stark County Veterans Service Commission plans a special meeting at 9 a.m. Tuesday at its office, 2955 Wise Ave. NW in Plain Township.

BEER FEST – Columbiana Craft BeerFest 2023: Clipper Sipper 2.0 will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Sept. 23 at Town Center in Firestone Farms, 101 Town Center Ave. in Columbiana. The event will be a fundraiser for Dick “Sonny” Fisher Stadium in Harvey S. Firestone Recreational Park. Now in its third year, Columbiana Craft BeerFestwill feature samples from more than 10 area breweries, live music, local food trucks and area vendors. Tickets are $30 in advance, and $40 at the gate and include 10 tasting tickets, a 13-ounce master crafter tasting glass. Attendees must be age 21 or older.
