PORK DINNER – Mile Branch Grange plans a drive-thru roast pork dinner from 5 p.m. until sellout on Aug. 24 at the grange office, 495 Knox School Road. Cost is $10 per meal. It includes roast pork, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, cole slaw and cookie. No preorders. All meals will be first-come, first-serve.

MAGNIFICAT BREAKFAST – Magnificat of Stark County invites all women to a breakfast at 9 a.m. Sept. 23 at Walsh University’s Barrette Center, 2020 E. Maple St. in North Canton. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. Guest speaker Sara Schroedl of Canal Fulton speak about her journey of faith and hope behind bars – the handlebars of a bicycle on a cross-country trip. HISTORY ROAD TRIP – Mahoning Valley Historical Society plans a scavenger-hunt-meets-road-trip event, “Amazing History Race 9,” to test your knowledge of local history. Meet at 5 p.m. Saturday at Arms Family Museum, and your team will begin a vehicular adventure at 5:30. Prior to setting out, you will receive a set of clues directing you to six different historic sites spread throughout the Mahoning Valley. First one back with all of the sites correctly identified wins the coveted Amazing History Race 9 trophy. Participants will need a smart phone or digital camera to record your landmarks. Racers will end up back at Arms Family Museum, where MVHS staff and volunteers will check your photos. Stick around for a casual outdoor pizza party with soft drinks, snacks, and water provided. The cost is $7 per person; $5 for ages 60 and older and students ages 5 to 13. Children younger than 4 participate free. To register your team and pay, call Linda Kostka at 330-743-2589, ext. 125.
