Area news in brief for Dec. 20

BELOIT COUNCIL – Beloit Village Council plans committee meetings Wednesday in Council Chambers. The Grants Committee will meet at 6:45 p.m., followed by a Finance Committee meeting, then a Safety Committee meeting.

KNOX TRUSTEES – Knox Township trustees plan a regular meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at 2895 Knox School Road. Trustees will convene at 6:45 p.m. to review bills.

CHRISTMAS SERVICE – Trinity Episcopal Church will celebrate Christmas Eve with Holy Eucharist Liturgy at 6 p.m. Saturday. Musical preludes will begin at 5:30 p.m. There will be no services on Christmas Day at the church, at 1200 S. Union Ave. For more information, contact Rev. Jon Coventry at 330-340-4011.

BLUE CHRISTMAS – John Knox Presbyterian Church, 5155 Eastlake St. NW in North Canton, plans a “Blue Christmas” service. The service is aimed at providing comfort to people who are grieving a loss. The Blue Christmas Worship Service is 3 p.m. Tuesday and will allow those in attendance to come forward and light candles in memory of someone, or to mark an event in their lives with which they are now dealing. The community is invited to attend. Fellowship and a light meal will be offered after the service.

RANDOLPH LIBRARY – Randolph Public Library plans Winter Festival craft and games party at 3 p.m. Jan. 21 for children of all ages. Randolph Public Library also plans a life-size, walk-through Candyland game for children of all ages at noon Jan. 7 at the library. RODMAN CLOSURES – Rodman Public Library and its Branch Library will be closed Dec. 23-26 in honor of the Christmas holiday. Both libraries will reopen Dec. 27 for normal business hours.
