Area news in brief for Dec. 5

MAHONING COMMISSIONERS – Mahoning County commissioners will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Commissioners Hearing Room in the Mahoning County Courthouse, 120 Market St. in Youngstown.

KNOX TRUSTEES – Knox Township trustees plan a regular meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at 2895 Knox School Road. Trustees will convene at 6:45 p.m. to review bills.

COLUMBIANA ELECTIONS – Columbiana County Board of Elections will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the board office, 7989 Dickey Drive, Suite #3, in Lisbon.

QUAKERTOWN TROLLEY – Salem Historical Society is offering Christmas Light tours aboard the Quakertown Trolley. The 60-minute tours will offer rides to view selected lighting of the city, including the Sebo home. Tours are scheduled at 6 p.m. Saturday; 7:15 p.m. Sunday; 7:45 p.m. Dec. 17; 6 p.m. Dec. 26; and 6 p.m. Dec. 30. Tours will load at the Dale Shaffer Library, 239 S. Lundy Ave. Cost is $6 per adult and $4 for children ages 12 and younger. Riders younger than 3 are free. Trips with less than 15 might be cancelled. LOUISVILLE SCHOOLS – Louisville City Schools Board of Education plans a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Board of Education Office, 407 E. Main St. Purpose of the meeting is to discuss the May 2023 ballot. In a news release, the board says no action will be taken.

PORT AUTHORITY – Stark County Port Authority plans a special meeting of its board of directors at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Stark Economic Development Board office, 400 Third Street SE, Suite 310, Canton. Those interested also can observe and listen to the meeting via teleconference by calling 866-239-2379. No pass code is required. Purposes of the meeting are to discuss “a resolution authorizing the issuance of tax increment financing revenue bonds series 2022 in the amount of $18,750,000 by the Stark County Port Authority in cooperation with the City of Canton and other parties, for the purpose of financing and refinancing costs of public infrastructure improvements constituting Port Authority facilities benefitting the development of the Hall of Fame Village complex within the City of Canton including the refunding of previously issued tax increment financing revenue bonds by the development finance authority of Summit County to finance such costs, and acquiring and constructing such public infrastructure improvements and paying or reimbursing the costs thereof and approving related matters …” and “a resolution regarding approval of an application made by, and authorizing a loan to, PT Metals LLC from the Stark County Port Authority’s Revolving Loan Fund …”
