DVD TRANSFER – Salem Public Library is offering the chance to convert your VHS tapes to DVDs. The library has a VHS-to-DVD recorder you can use for free in the library. One free DVD will be provided each day, though users are welcome to bring your own. One-hour time slots are available for booking by calling information at 330-332-0042, option 5. Salem Public Library is at 821 E. State St. in Salem.

FARM TOUR – Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association a tour and workshop to showcase the diversity of food production at 4 p.m. July 31 at Tierra Verde Farms, a family farm in Deerfield that raises free-range beef, lamb, pork, chicken and turkey. Attendees will walk through the pasture, learning about the farm’s infrastructure, decision-making process and overall strategy from Tierra Verde farmer Mike Jones. FLY A KITE – Salem Public Library and Salem Parks & Recreation are offering a class to help users learn the history of kites and also make their own. The program “The Sky's the Limit” will be 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Pavilion #8 in Waterworth Memorial Park. Girl Scout Troop 80774 will present a brief history of kites and fun facts, and then patrons can make a kite. All materials will be provided free of cost at the program open to all ages. SALEM SCHOOLS – Salem City Schools Board of Education plans a special meeting at noon Thursday at the district's administrative office, 1226 E. State St. in Salem. Purpose of the meeting is to approve board items regarding personnel matters.
