OPEN HOUSE – Stark State College has announced an open house at its Akron Campus, 360 Perkins St. The open house, from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 10, is for prospective students. Students and their guests can learn about the admissions process; get financial aid details; talk with professors about degrees and certificates; learn about student services and resources; and take a tour. Students also can explore the college’s new Welding and Joining Center with 17 welding booths for training that prepares students for American Welding Society certifications and is consistently in high demand with employers. STARK PARKS – Stark Park District’s Board of Park Commissioners plans its regular monthly meeting at 2 p.m. Aug. 2 at Exploration Gateway, Room A, 5712 12th St. Canton.

LOUISVILLE COUNCIL – Louisville City Council plans a meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at Louisville Constitution Center, 1022 W. Main St. Among items to be discussed is an ordinance authorizing the city manager to enter into a contract with The Thrasher Group for surveying, mapping and professional design services for fields used for baseball and softball at Metzger Park.

SEBRING PLANNING – Sebring Village Planning Commission will meet at 6 p.m. Aug. 4. Among items to be discussed are a potential lot split at 216 W. Pennsylvania Ave.
