Area news in brief for June 10

SEBRING LOCAL – Sebring Local School District is seeking candidates to fill a vacant board seat. Send letters of interest to lkimball@sebring.k12.oh.us by 3 pm June 17.

PLANNED OUTAGES – Ohio Edison has scheduled two momentary outages that will impact properties in the southeast area of Alliance. The outages will be 5 a.m. June 13 and 5 a.m. June 16, and will allow the company to perform routine maintenance. Officials say the outages will last three to five minutes on both these days. About 2,600 metered customers in the Alliance area will be impacted. All locations will be notified by an electronic message submitted via phone numbers provided on their accounts. The following city facilities will be impacted: addresses at 1144 and 1135 Pike St., 121 E. Main St.; 13843, 13850, 13943, 13905, 13869, 13893 and 13809 Tthompson Street; and 13799, 13827, 13857, 13818, 13848, 13814, 13824, 13870 and 13791 Tank Street. Along with these city-owned buildings, the U.S. Post Office facilities on Ely Street will also be impacted.

FLAG RETIREMENT – Washington Township Historical Society will conduct a flag retirement by burning ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday behind the Fire Department, 5843 Beechwood Ave. The public is welcome. Those with damaged or unusable flags can still bring them to the township's Administration Building for retirement.

LAND BANK – The Finance Committee of Mahoning County Land Bank’s Board of Directors will meet at 12:30 p.m. June 21 in the Land Bank office, 20 Federal Place (20 W. Federal St.), Suite 202, in Youngstown. The Board of Directors will meet at 11:30 a.m. June 28, also in the Land Bank office.
