Area news in brief for June 12

SEBRING HYDRANTS – The Village of Sebring will begin flushing hydrants on Monday. Flushing will begin at Sebring Village Water Treatment Plant on Knox School Road and will continue north throughout the village. Water customers in Maple Ridge and Beloit also will be included. Customers might experience fluctuations in pressure and discoloration of their water.

LOUISVILLE SCHOOLS – Louisville City Schools Board of Education plans a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Louisville Middle School, 1300 S. Chapel St. in Louisville. Purpose of the meeting is a work session to discuss the expiring emergency operating levy and the November 2023 ballot.

LOUISVILLE COUNCIL – Louisville City Council plans a special meeting at 8 a.m. Monday. Purpose of the meeting is for council to recess into executive session to discuss the employment of public employees.

SEBRING SCHOOLS – Sebring Local Schools Board of Education plans a special board meeting at 7 a.m. June 30 in the administration offices for the purpose of approving the final fiscal year-end numbers. The board also has announced it has relocated all of its previously scheduled board meetings through January 2024 to the high school cafeteria.

MARLINGTON LOCAL – Marlington Local Schools Board of Education plans a regular meeting at 6 p.m. Monday at Marlington High School in the Digital Learning Zone, 10450 Moulin Ave. in Lexington Township. During the meeting, the board plans to recess into executive session to consider the employment and compensation of public employees; for conferences with the board’s attorney concerning pending or imminent court action; and to prepare for, conduct or review collective bargaining strategy. Following executive session, action might be taken. Pending absence of technological issues, the meeting will be live-streamed on the Marlington Local Schools Technology Department’s YouTube channel.

CHURCH BREAKFAST – Damascus Methodist Church and Middle Sandy Presbyterian Church will hold their monthly community breakfast from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. June 17 at the Damascus church, 300 Valley Road. Breakfast is all-you-can-eat and made-to-order with pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, toast, juice and coffee. Cost is donation only. Proceeds will benefit the upcoming 2023 Summer Mission Trip to Camden, New York, to work with Cluster 13 Ministries.

SEBRING PARKS – Sebring Parks and Recreation Committee will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday in the East Pavilion of South Side Park.
