SEBRING PARKS – Sebring Village Parks and Recreation Board and Friends of the Parks plan a special meeting at 6 p.m. Oct. 4 in Village Council Chambers in the Municipal Building. Purpose of the meeting is to discuss how to promote the two levies.

KNOX TRUSTEES – Knox Township trustees plan a regular meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at 2895 Knox School Road. Trustees will convene at 6:45p.m. to review bills.

ECKLER LECTURE – Author Valeria Luiselli will present this year’s Eckler Lecture at 7 p.m. Oct. 23 in Brush Performance Hall. This year’s lecture is co-sponsored by the peacebuilding and social justice program. Luiselli was born in Mexico City and grew up in South Korea, South Africa and India. She is the author of “Sidewalks, Faces in the Crowd,” “The Story of My Teeth, Tell Me How It Ends: An Essay in Forty Questions”and “Lost Children Archive.” Luiselli received the 2019 MacArthur Fellowship, and has won the Dublin Literary Award, two Los Angeles Times Book Prizes, The Carnegie Medal and an American Book Award. Luiselli will present “Migration Stories” as part of the Eckler Lecture. Tickets are free, though required. Visit mountunion.edu/lecture-series to order tickets.

CYBER SECURITY – Stark State College plans a free seminar to help professionals stay current in the latest trends in network security and digital forensics. The event, set for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Stark State’s Silk Auditorium, is open to law enforcement, IT professionals, Ohio HTCIA members, students and faculty from Stark and Summit counties. Featured speakers will be Col. Daniel Wolfe, U.S. Army (retired); Dr. Gregory H. Winger, School of Public & International Affairs, University of Cincinnati; and Mark Bell, cyber security outreach coordinator, Adjutant General’s Department. RSVP to kbertsch@starkstate.edu.
