SARTA PAPERLESS – Stark Area Regional Transit Authority has announced key dates for its move to paperless operation. The final day to purchase the 31-day Proline Pass is Oct. 31. The last day the 31-day Proline pass will be accepted is Dec. 31. The agency says that by the end of 2023, paper passes and tickets will not be sold or accepted; change cards and paper transfers will no longer be distributed or accepted; and riders paying with cash must have exact change to be able to ride on SARTA buses. port authority – Stark County Port Authority plans a regular meeting at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at its office, 400 Third St. SE in Canton. Members of the public can listen to the meeting by calling 866-239-2379. No pass code is required.

SEBRING LOCAL – Sebring Local Schools’ Board of Education plans a special meeting at 6 p.m. Oct. 10 in the McKinley High School auditorium. The board has canceled its Oct. 17 regular meeting.

SCIENCE SEMINAR – University of Mount Union’s Engaging Science, Innovation and Technology seminar series will feature three presentations from members of the institution’s College of Applied and Social Sciences and College Natural and Health Sciences. On Wednesday, Dr. Robert Woodward of the Department of Biochemistry will share “(Bacterial) Resistance is Futile: Emerging Approaches to Combatting Resistant Bugs.” His presentation will be 4:15-5:15 p.m. in Room 04 of Bracy Hall. SQUARE DANCE – The Friendly Squares plan a square dance from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Oct. 8at the Niles SCOPE Center, 14 E. State St. in Niles. Neil Harner will be the caller, and Frankie Hammond will cue the line dances. The theme for the dance is Halloween. Costumes are encouraged but not required.
