Area players recognized by District 12 coaches

Meadowbrook senior standout Jake Singleton continued to reel in the postseason awards with the District 12 Coaches Association announcing their basketball teams and other top awards recently.

Singleton was the Division II boys Player of the Year following an impressive season with a 27.3 points per game average to help lead the Colts back to the Division II regional tournament for the third consecutive year.

Meadowbrook with an impressive 23-3 record will take on Heath in a Division II regional semi-final on Thursday night at 6 p.m. at Ohio University's Convo in Athens.

The District 12 All-Star game is scheduled for Friday, April 8 at Buckeye Trail with the girls competing at 6 p.m. and the boys starting at 8 p.m.

Also reeling in top honors was John Glenn's Gary Sigman who shared Division II Girls Coach of the Year with Sheridan's J.D. Walters.

Sigman guided the Lady Muskies to the program's best season with a final mark of 19-8, including a trip to the Division II regional tournament for the first time in school history.

Area boys players selected for First Team recognition in Division I-II along with Singleton included senior teammate Drew Webster, Cambridge senior Caleb Bond and junior Nathan Walker of John Glenn.

First Team selections on the girls side in Division I-II included John Glenn senior Angela Kumler and freshman Mya Oliver, along with Meadowbrook sophomore Kenli Norman.

Senior Franko Rome and junior Garrett Burga of Buckeye Trail were tabbed with Division III First Team honors.

Buckeye Trail seniors Abby Wayble and Kacey Hastings along with Cambridge senior Camryn Gebhart each were named to the Division III girls First Team.
