Area quartet named to United Soccer Coaches All-America teams

Nine Hoosiers, including two each from Noblesville and Carmel, were named to the United Soccer Coaches All-America teams for the 2021 fall season.

Andrew Caito and Emily Roper represented the Greyhounds, while Palmer Ault and Ava Bramblett represented the Millers.

Honorees will be recognized at the All-America Ceremony & Reception on Jan. 22, 2022 at the Kansas City Convention Center in conjunction with the United Soccer Coaches Convention.

Ault, a senior midfielder, scored a career-high 26 goals and 16 assists to lead the Millers to their first state championship. The Butler commit graduates with 67 goals and 39 assists.

His Carmel counterpart, Caito, led the Greyhounds to a 16-4-2 record that culminated in a runner-up finish to the aforementioned Millers. The senior midfielder scored nine goals and three assists in 2021, and graduates with 12 goals and 31 points over two varsity seasons.

Canterbury junior goalkeeper Saed Anabtawi, Chesterton senior midfielder Ryan O'Dell and Castle senior forward Jackson Mitchell also earned All-America honors.

On the girls side, Bramblett recorded a goal in all but two games for sectional champion Noblesville. The junior midfielder, who recorded 17 goals, nine assists and 16 steals, enters her senior season with 32 goals and 16 assists.

Roper led Class 3A runner-up Carmel with 19 goals and nine assists at striker, then moved to center back following their sectional win over Guerin. The Ball State commit graduates with 39 goals and 18 assists in four seasons.

Bramblett and Roper were joined on the squad by senior midfielders Amelia White (Homestead) and Jenna Lang (Columbus North). Lang is one of six two-time honorees on the girls side.

United Soccer Coaches also announced Ault and White as the Indiana Players of the Year, and unveiled its all-region teams.
