PREP WRESTLING

Amaral tourney closed to public

Silverado school officials announced that the 14th annual Adrian Amaral Memorial Tournament is still set for this weekend, but spectators will not be allowed.

The school made the decision due to new California Department of Public Department guidelines.

Only wrestlers and coaches will be allowed in the facility, school officials said.

The annual wrestling tournament is dedicated to Adrian Amaral, who died in a traffic collision in 2004, only a week after graduating from Silverado. Amaral was a standout at baseball, football and wrestling in his four years at the school.

Silverado did not host a tournament in 2021 due to the pandemic. Hillcrest won the tournament’s team title for a second year in a row in that tournament.
