Area Roundup: Granite Hills boys tennis tops Apple Valley, improves to 3-0
The Granite Hills boys tennis team picked up its third victory of the season with an 11-7 victory Monday afternoon over crosstown rival Apple Valley.
Eric Poindexter led the way for the Cougars in singles action by sweeping 6-0, 6-0, 6-1.
Granite Hills also got sweeps by the doubles teams of Chris Grantham and Jace Esplin (6-4, 6-0, 6-1), and Angel Garcia and Anthony Castillo (6-1, 6-2, 6-1).
The Cougars (3-0) are back in action against Hesperia.

Silver Valley 17, Trona 1
At Yermo, Tre Harvey allowed one run on two hits and struck out 11 batters Monday afternoon to lead the Trojans to their first victory of the season.
Harvey also hit a home run, drew two walks, drove in four RBI and scored two runs.
Lawson Talarico went 2 for 3 with a triple, three RBI and two runs, and Joseph Rippley went 2 for 3 with a walk and three RBI.

Glendora 11, Oak Hills 2
At Oak Hills, the Bulldogs dropped to 3-3-1 on the season with a loss at home Monday afternoon.
For Oak Hills, Austin Allan went 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run.
The Bulldogs are back in action Friday at Victor Valley.

PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL
Burroughs’ Sepulveda takes MRL Player of the Year
Lysette Sepulveda has been named the Mojave River League’s Player of the Year award after leading the Burros to a second-place finish.
Burroughs and Apple Valley shared the Sportsmanship award.
Oak Hills, which took first place in the league with a 10-0 record, saw three players named to the First Team, as did Hesperia.

At San Dimas, the Bulldogs began the season with a loss Monday afternoon.
Alta Loma’s Alex Morales led all shooters with a 39.
Dominick Rivera led Oak Hills with a 48, followed by Nick Muro’s score of 49.
