Area roundup: Indians break through late to ground Rockets

OSKALOOSA — Oskaloosa celebrated senior night by taking down their old rivals from the south as they were able to rally to win on Tuesday.
Things were looking bleak for Oskaloosa as EBF took a 1-0 lead on an unearned run in the third and Rocket pitcher Brooklyn Bettis was dealing, holding the Indians to one hit through five innings.
But EBF would make the switch in the circle in the sixth with Bella Noble taking over the reins. The Indians fared much better against Noble as they were able to get the bats going in the sixth.
Maleah Walker would score all the way from second on a bunt single by Aubrey Boender to tie up the game briefly before Olivia Gordon untied it with an RBI single up the middle. The runs wouldn't stop there as Lucy Roach would then connect on her first career home run to net Osky three more runs as they went to the seventh with a 5-1 lead.
EBF would try to answer with a rally of their own as they got two runs across and were able to bring the winning run to the plate before popping out Roach at second to end the game.
Roach led the Osky bats going 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs while Boender and Gordon both notched one RBI. Shannon Van Rheenen secured the win in the circle after pitching all seven innings and allowing three runs on seven hits with four walks and three strikeouts.
Oskaloosa (10-19, 6-12 LHC) heads to Grinnell (9-15, 4-14 LHC) on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. for a doubleheader.
Pella 3, North Mahaska 1
NEW SHARON — The Lady Dutch have had their fair share of comeback wins this year and they added another to the books on Tuesday against North Mahaska.
The Warhawks were able to grab a 1-0 lead in the third and held that lead until the sixth where Pella would break through for three runs on their way to the win.
The bottom of the order would come through for the Lady Dutch with Catrina Dixson going 2-for-3 with two RBIs while Katie Scheckel drove in the other run. Saige De Jong pitched all seven innings allowing just the lone run on three hits with two walks and five strikeouts.
Pella (11-19, 5-13 LHC) goes across town to face Pella Christian (8-19, 3-15 LHC) on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in a doubleheader.

No. 7 (3A) North Polk 3, Pella 1
PELLA — The Dutch were looking to knock off the seventh-ranked Comets but a late rally by North Polk would help them escape Pella with a win.
Pella was able to get out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning and would hold that lead all the way until the sixth where the Comets would tie it before ultimately taking the lead with a pair of runs in the seventh.
The Dutch finished with five hits on the night with Isaiah Kettler finishing 2-for-4. Jack Howard pitched five shutout innings for Pella allowing just two hits and two walks with two strikeouts. Tate Weesner came in in relief and would allow three runs, one earned, on three hits with three walks and three strikeouts while taking the loss.
Pella (16-13, 9-9 LHC) will make the trip across town to face Pella Christian (8-16, 4-14 LHC) on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in a doubleheader.
