Area roundup: Lewiston boys hockey shakes off South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete in OT

Dec. 16—PORTLAND — Luke Pomerleau scored 35 seconds into overtime as Lewiston (2-0) edged South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete (1-1) with a 3-2 boys hockey victory at Troubh Ice Arena on Thursday.

The Blue Devils took a 2-0 lead on goals by Adrian Theriault and Isaac Bellemore, but two goals by South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete's Tobey Lappin forced overtime.

Sebastian Moon and Nick Laughlin scored second-period goals for the Capers (2-0) as they topped Leavitt/Gray-NG/Oak Hill/Poland (0-2) at Troubh Ice Arena.

Phillip Coupe closed the scoring for Cape Elizabeth in the third period.

Ella Pelletier and Molly Corbett scored 15 points apiece as the undefeated Vikings (3-0) rolled over the Eagles (1-2) in Paris.

Corbett knocked down four of Oxford Hills' nine 3-pointers. Sierra Carson (12 points) and Gabbie Tibbetts, eight points, each hit two treys and Pelletier made one.

Abby Thornton scored eight points for Windham.

The Vikings wore holiday-themed uniforms as part of their "Christmas for Kids" game. Oxford Hills coach Nate Pelletier tweeted after the game that more than 1,000 gifts were donated at the game.

Julianna Allen scored 10 points as the undefeated Eagles (3-0) shook off the Hornets (2-1) in Turner.

Caitlyn McCoy knocked down four 3-pointers to score a game-high 12 points for Leavitt.

Hunter Brackett got 11 of his 23 points in the third quarter as the Knights (2-1) rallied from a 35-25 halftime deficit to defeat the Warriors (1-2) at Wells.

John Patenaude also scored 23 points and Hayden Christner had 15, all from behind the arc

Caden Dufort led Wells with 19 points. Eli Roy added 14, Spencer Carpenter had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Kayden Springer finished with 11 points.

Jackson Leach, Carter Bourque and TJ Wilson paced the Bulldogs (2-0) past the Raiders (0-2) in Wales.

Leach scored a game-high 16 points, Bourque added 14 and Wilson finished with 12.

Cooper Scott made two 3-pointers and scored a team-high 10 points for Oak Hill. Maverick Swan added six points, while PJ Smith and Eli Desmond scored five apiece.

The Phoenix (2-0) erupted for 17 points in the final quarter while holding the Cobras (0-2) to four, turning a one-point deficit into a 12-point victory in Jay.

Elie Timler dropped in a game-17 points for Spruce Mountain, while Cai Dougher finished with 14 points and Jace Bessey finished with 12.

Joel Gehrke was Carrabec's top scorer with 13 points, and Luke Carey contributed 10.

Following a steal, Parker Bate hit a 3-pointer right before the buzzer to break a tie and give the Ealges (2-1) a victory over the Hornets (0-2) in Topsham.
