Area roundup: Oxford Hills remains undefeated with road win over Edward Little in girls basketball

Jan. 9—AUBURN — Sierra Carson scored a game-high 24 points and Oxford Hills pulled away for a 91-48 Class AA North win over Edward Little on Monday.

Tristen Derenburger added 21 points on seven 3-pointers for the Vikings (9-0), which tied a program record for 3s in a game that was set by teammate Molly Corbett last season. Ella Pelletier also finished in double figures, with 15 points. Corbett scored all nine of her points on three 3s.

Savannah Green paced the Red Eddies (3-7) with 10 points, Layla Facchiano and Rachel Penny scored nine apiece and Aiwen Maiwen pitched in with eight.

Ariana Thibeault poured in 20 points to pace the Raiders (2-6) past the Wolverines (0-7) in Wales.

Aubrey McElhaney added 13 points for Oak Hill.

Makayla Bush and Quiana Hyman each scored two points for Wiscasset.

Ayden Jefferson went off for 30 points to help lead the Bucks (2-6) past the host Rebels (1-6) in an MVC tilt in Bethel.

Jaden Jack added 14 points for Buckfield, which jumped out to a 23-4 lead after one quarter.

Evan Leach paced Telstar with 11 points and Wyatt Lilly pitched in with eight.

Zach New drained six 3-pointers and scored 21 points to stand out in a balanced Falcons (4-4) offense during a win over the Raiders in Rumford.

Jake New hit two 3s of his own as part of his eight-point effort and Seneca Jones splashed another in his seven-point showing for Mountain Valley.

Braden New scored all 12 of his points on four 3s to pace Oak Hill and PJ Smith added 10.

Callan Franzose had a near triple-double, scoring 22 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and adding nine blocks for the Bulldogs in a Mountain Valley Conference win over the Mustangs in Madison.

Kayden Hibbard had 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Shyre Bonito had 10 points and 10 rebounds for Madison (2-5).

Sammy Calder led Monmouth (5-2) with 15 points, while Manny Calder added 11 points.

Lauren Labbe and Hannah Lay each tallied a goal an assist as the Dragons (8-3) handled the Eagles (5-3) in Brunswick.

Tannar Gagnon and Gillian Countway also scored for the Dragons, who had two goals each in the first and third periods. Lisi Palmer and Solveig Ledwick recorded assists.

Allie Hunter scored from Remy LeBel and Hannah Hawkes in the second period for the Eagles.
