OHSAA tickets must be purchased on-line

All tickets for Ohio High School Athletic Association tournament events (including football, soccer and volleyball) must be purchased on-line at www.ohsaa.org/tickets.

Tickets will not be sold at the gate of any event nor will cash be accepted.

Westville golf league champions

Summer golf league champions and runners-up at Westville Lake Country Club were Jim Wallace and Bob Held, champions, and Ken Sanor and Roger Ruzek Jr., runners-up, Monday Morning Tired Men's League; Jim McCalla and Tim Owens, champions, and Rick Caufield and Randy Berger, runners-up, Thursday Morning Scramble League.

The team of Dave Penturg, Eric Glista, Nate Glista, Blake Glista and Bill Wilson shot 19-under par 53 to win the Fergie Memorial Scramble Dedicated to Dave Blasiman.

Mike Freshley of Alliance scored a hole-in-one on the 110-yard No. 3 hole. Freshley, who shot 41 for his round, scored his first career ace with a pitching wedge.

Holes-in-one recorded at Tannenhauf and Sleepy Hollow

Chris Stroup of Limaville scored a hole-in-one at Tannenhauf Golf Club. He aced the 154-yard No. 11 hole using a 6-iron. The shot was witnessed by Scott Weekley, Bill O'Wesney, Brian Morrison and Rod Blakeman. This was Stroup's second career ace.

At Sleepy Hollow, Ben Wheeler of Louisville recently aced the 162-yard No. 14 hole. He used an 8-iron. The witnesses were Jeff McKelvey, Scott McKelvey, Jeff Wheeler and Jeremy Gruber.

West Branch tennis players selected all-league

Seven West Branch tennis players have been selected to the North Eastern Tennis League all-star team.

The Warriors were co-champions of the league with Salem with a 10-2 record.

Senior Ally Zion and juniors Kate Slutz and Niah Muniz were named to the first team. Lily Ann Bonar and Autumn Johnston, both juniors, were selected to the second team, and sophomores Sophia McDonald and Iris Shofroth were named honorable mention.

Mount Union places four on All-OAC volleyball team

Sophomore Heaven Bartell of Mount Union was named to the All-Ohio Athletic Conference first team for volleyball.

Bartell led the Purple Raiders with 35 aces, was second with 325 digs, third with 217 kills and fifth with 29 blocks.

Also named to the All-OAC team were senior Alyssa Kasaris and graduate student Maria Ellesin to the second team and Alexis Meyer to honorable mention.

Ellesin, a graduate of Marlington High School, was previously named all-conference honorable mention in 2020 and 2021. This season, she led the team and was sixth in the conference with 267 kills and added 42 blocks.
