Apr. 30—MENNO — The Menno girls track and field team captured the Erv Ptak Relays title on Thursday. The Wolves finished with 154.50, finishing nine points ahead of second-place Andes Central/Dakota Christian (145.50).
The Wolves were powered by the hurdles to secure the team title. Menno's Jesse Munkvold won the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles. She finished with a time of :16.11 in the 100 hurdles, while she clocked in at :50.52 in the 300 hurdles.
Also in the 100 hurdles, Bridget Vaith (:17.94) and Kaelie Derby (:18.31) placed second and third, respectively.
In the 300 hurdles, Vaith (:53.63) and Derby (:54.36) finished third and fourth, respectively. The Wolves also claimed the 3,200-meter relay in 10:58.37.
Menno's Morgan Edelman topped the 800-meter field in 2:31.24, while she also captured second in the 1,600-meter run (5:43.39). Edelman also won the pole vault with a mark of 8-feet and 6-inches.
Menno's Raygen Diede captured the shot put (36-9.25) and the discus throw (111-8). Hanson's Annalyse Weber was a double winner in the long jump (15-3.25) and triple jump (33-9).
Canistota's Kara Roshone won the mile in 5:41.53.
ACDC's Isabella Brouwer captured the 400-meter dash (1:04.98), while teammate Lexie Schoenfelder won the two-mile race in 13:21.67. Freeman Academy/Marion's Zenovia Butler won the 100-meter dash in :13.30 seconds.
Canistota won the 800-meter relay in 1:55.87, while FAM won the sprint medley relay in 4:33.81.
In the boys division, Viborg-Hurley (117.50) edged Menno (115) and Hanson (112) for the team title.
Canistota's Josiah Schroeder was a triple winner in the the 800-meter run (2:11.78), 1,600-meter run (4:46.86) and 3,200-meter run (10:44.89).
Menno's Brady Fergen captured both hurdle races. He won the 110-meter hurdles in :16.60 and the 300-meter hurdles in :44.07.
Hanson won 800-meter and 1,600-meter relays. Freeman Academy/Marion won the 3,200-meter and sprint medley relays. Canistota's William Ortman cleared 5-10 to win the high jump. Menno's Owen Eitemiller earned the pole vault title (12-0).
Hanson's Noah Price won the triple jump with a mark of 40-8, while teammate Colton Dillon won the shot put (43-4.25). Hanson's Hayden Bahmuller captured the discus throw (153-4).
Winner girls win Cecil Johnson Invitational
PRESHO — The Winner girls track and field was the lone team to score more than 100 points at the Cecil Johnson Invitational on Thursday. The Warriors won the girls division with 146.5 points, finishing ahead of second-place Wall (98.5).
Winner's Skyler Hansen won the 100-meter hurdles (:16.95).
Hansen, Keelie Kuil, Kalla Bertram and Ellie Brozik won the 800-meter relay in 1:49.17. Winner's Kendyl Bachmann, Meagan Blare, Melanie Brozik and Aryn Meiners won the 3,200-meter relay (11:01.29).
Winner's Jenaya Schrader won the shot put (33-5) and Kelsey Sachtjen won the high jump (5-0). Jenna Hammerbeck won the long jump with a mark of 15-8.25, while Ellie Brozik captured the triple jump (35-7). Hammerbeck also finished second in the triple jump (32-1).
In the boys division, Stanley County (95.5) won the team division. Wall (89.5) and Winner (82) finished second and third, respectively.
Winner's Adam Bohnet captured the 100-meter dash (:11.90) and 200-meter dash (:23.88). Kade Watson won the 800-meter run (2:00.61) for the Warriors. Colome's Joseph Laprath won the 1,600-meter run, covering the distance in 5:00.54.
Bohnet, Aiden Barfuss, Michael Olson and Joey Cole won the 400-meter relay in :46.02. Aaron Monk, Barfuss, Olson and Cole also won the 800-meter relay (1:35.58). Monk, Cole, Olson and Watson earned the 1,600-meter relay in 3:43.75. Monk won the 110-meter hurdles in :16.09 for the Warriors.
Lyman's Colton Collins won the high jump with a mark of 5-9, while teammate Stockton McClanahan won the pole vault (9-3). Collins also finished second in the long jump (19-7.75).
