Area volleyball roundup: Sioux Falls Lutheran sweeps Mitchell Christian

Oct. 15—Sioux Falls Lutheran swept Mitchell Christian on the road Thursday night. Set scores were 25-9, 25-11 and 25-13.

Sioux Falls Lutheran (7-9): Emma Stubkjaer posted 14 kills and three aces. Brooklyn Roozenboom had eight kills and three aces, while Sophie Stubkjaer added nine aces. Sioux Falls Lutheran travels to Bridgewater-Emery on Oct. 18.

Mitchell Christian (2-14): Whisper Eben had four kills and 10 digs, as Keely O'Neill chipped in 10 digs and six assists. The Golden Eagles host Iroquois/Doland on Oct. 19.

TDA 3, Scotland 2

TRIPP — Tripp-Delmont/Armour came from behind to win the final three sets and the match against Scotland on Thursday night. Set scores were 20-25, 22-25, 25-22, 25-12 and 15-10.

Tripp-Delmont/Armour (11-10): Megan Reiner posted an 11-kill, 16-dig double-double with two blocks and seven ace serves. Gracey Schatz chipped in 15 kills, as Hannah Stremick had five kills, 19 assists, seven digs and three aces. TDA is at the Thunder Nation Tournament hosted by Andes Central/Dakota Christian on Oct. 16.

Scotland (10-11): Audrey Sayler had nine kills and two blocks, as Martina DeBoer added eight kills and three blocks. Rylee Conrad had 31 assists for the Highlanders, who host Hanson on Oct. 18.

Corsica-Stickney 3, Winner 1

CORSICA — Corsica-Stickney rebuffed Winner at home, taking a four-set victory on Thursday night. Set scores were 11-25, 25-22, 25-11, 25-22 .

Corsica-Stickney (9-13): Morgan Clites (13 kills, 20 digs) and Rachel Gerlach (12 kills, 13 digs) each posted double-doubles. Sutten Eide recorded one of her own with 33 assists and 15 digs, as Avery Broughton chipped in six kills and four blocks. The Jaguars travel to Avon on Oct. 19.

Winner (13-10): Ellie Brozik notched 21 kills, 14 digs and 10 assists. Lexi Klein added 17 assists, 13 digs and two aces for the Warriors, who are at Wagner on Oct. 19.

WOONSOCKET — Sanborn Central/Woonsocket notched its 20th win of the season, taking a straight-set victory over Kimball/White Lake on Thursday night. Set scores were 25-19, 25-17 and 25-15.

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket (20-4): Brooke Doering powered her way to 12 kills and four blocks. Teya Moody put up 24 assists and 14 digs, while Trista White added 11 kills, 16 digs and two aces. SCW is at Hitchcock-Tulare on Oct. 19.

Kimball/White Lake (13-9): Ryann Nielsen had eight kills, nine assists and 17 digs. Dani Deffenbaugh posted a team-high 11 kills for the Wildkats, who host Andes Central/Dakota Christian on Oct. 18.

Ethan 3, Hanson 0

ALEXANDRIA — Ethan earned its fifth win in its last seven matches Thursday night, defeating rival Hanson in straight sets. Set scores were 25-13, 25-21 and 25-16.

Ethan (14-11): Bella Nesheim had 13 kills and 15 digs for the Rustlers, who picked up eight kills and 23 digs from Hannah Bartscher. Ethan racked up 15 aces in the match, led by five from Emiley Hoffman, who also had six kills. Aubrie Biteler had four aces and Ava Lingemann had 30 set assists. The Rustlers travel to Avon on Oct. 18.

Hanson (5-18): Kylie Haiar had four kills and Taylor Schroeder had 13 digs for the Beavers, who are at Scotland on Oct. 18.

Platte-Geddes 3, Chamberlain 0

CHAMBERLAIN — Platte-Geddes went on the road and took down Chamberlain on Thursday night. Set scores were 25-10, 25-17 and 25-16.

Platte-Geddes (21-4): Cadence Van Zee recorded nine kills, 11 digs and a pair of aces, as Regan Hoffman contributed four kills, 14 digs and one ace. Avery DeVries and Hadley Hanson had seven and six ace serves, respectively, and DeVries added 23 assists and 12 digs. P-G hosts Tripp-Delmont/Armour on Oct. 18.

Chamberlain (6-15): Individual statistics were not available for the Cubs, who are at Cheyenne-Eagle Butte on Oct. 19.

WAGNER — Class A No. 5 Wagner earned its 20th win of the season, sweeping Andes Central/Dakota Christian on Thursday night. Set scores were 25-18, 25-9 and 25-13.

Wagner (20-4): Macy Koupal put up 37 assists, going over 1,000 for her career, as she added 10 digs and three aces. Shona Kocer and Kya Kjeldgaard each recorded three blocks, as Emma Yost had a team-high 12 kills. Wagner hosts Winner on Oct. 19.

Andes Central/Dakota Christian (5-16): Lexie VanderPol had three kills and four blocks, and Allison Muckey had five kills and six digs. ACDC hosts the Thunder Nation Tournament on Oct. 16.

HARTFORD — Mount Vernon/Plankinton swept West Central on the road to reach 15 wins for the season Thursday night. Set scores were 25-15, 25-20 and 25-16.

Mount Vernon/Plankinton (15-5): Maria Baker had nine kills, and Nyomi Mahrt contributed four blocks. Shyla Tobin put up 21 assists, as Jocelyn Manzano chipped in 22 digs. Tessa Pickart had three aces for the Titans, who host Tri-Valley on Oct. 19.

West Central (6-11): Individual statistics were not available for the Trojans, who are at Garretson on Oct. 19.

CENTERVILLE — Avon earned a four-set road victory over Centerville on Thursday night. Set scores were 25-11, 25-18, 23-25 and 28-26.

Avon (16-7): Tiffany Pelton powered her way to 21 kills, four blocks and 11 digs. Katie Gretschmann and Courtney Sees contributed 24 and 16 digs, respectively. Avon hosts Ethan on Oct. 18.

Centerville (4-19): Bailey Hansen had eight kills, two blocks and one ace. Macey Hostetler put up 25 assists and one ace for the Tornadoes, who host Colome on Oct. 22.

PARKER — Parker took down Parkston in straight sets at home on Thursday night. Set scores were 28-26, 25-19 and 25-19.

Parker (14-11): Brooke Berens had 11 kills, 35 digs, one block and one ace. Terryn Fuller put up 30 assists, two aces and one block for the Pheasants, who are at Flandreau on Oct. 19.

Parkston (15-12): Mya Nuebel posted a team-high 11 kills with 20 digs, and Faith Oakley put up 24 assists with three kills, nine digs and one ace. Parkston is at Bon Homme on Oct. 19.

WESSINGTON SPRINGS — Wolsey-Wessington took a four-set road win over Wessington Springs for its 22nd victory of the season on Thursday night. Set scores were 25-18, 25-13, 23-25 and 25-13.

Wolsey-Wessington (22-3): Leah Williams posted six kills, six digs and seven ace serves. Hailey Clarke and Macie Luce put up 14 and 13 assists, respectively. Mya Boomsma had a team-high 17 kills for the Warbirds, who host Miller on Oct. 18.

Wessington Springs (10-12): Alyssa Grohs put up 17 assists to go with 16 digs and an ace, as Sarah Poncelow chipped in five kills and five blocks. Wessington Springs is at the Thunder Nation Tournament hosted by Andes Central/Dakota Christian on Oct. 16.

Chester Area 3, Canistota 0

CANISTOTA — Chester Area defeated Canistota in straight sets for its 21st win of the season on Thursday night. Set scores were 25-17, 25-11 and 25-13.

Chester Area (21-5): Lily VanHal posted an 18-assist, 11-dig double-double, as Breckyn Ewoldt powered her way to nine kills and four blocks. Chester Area is at Sioux Valley on Oct. 19.

Canistota (2-21): Kayla Papendick had two kills, two blocks and 10 digs. Sydnee Engbrecht chipped in four kills, one block and one ace for the Hawks, who are at Irene-Wakonda on Oct. 18.
