Area volleyball roundup: Wagner sweeps Madison for 10th consecutive win

Oct. 10—WAGNER — Wagner won its 10th straight match, defeating Madison in straight sets on Saturday. Set scores were 25-13, 25-16 and 25-18.

Wagner (18-4): Emma Yost and Avari Bruguier each recorded nine kills for the Red Raiders. Bruguier also led Wagner with 17 digs and two aces. Macy Koupal put up 28 assists and an ace, while Shalayne Nagel had 12 digs and three blocks. Wagner is at Parkston on Oct. 12.

Madison (11-7): Audrey Nelson had eight kills and two blocks, as Kylie Krusemark put up 14 assists, one block and one ace for the Bulldogs, who host Milbank on Oct. 12.

Ethan takes third place at Wildcat Invitational

MELETTE — Ethan (12-11) went 2-2 on the weekend to take home third place at the Wildcat Invitational Tournament hosted by Northwestern High School on Saturday.

The Rusters split matches with Rapid City Christian (set scores were 19-25, 25-11 and 21-25 in pool play and 15-25, 25-15 and 25-18 in the third-place match), defeated Leola/Frederick Area (25-17, 25-15) and fell to Northwestern (25-14, 25-16).

Ava Lingemann and Bella Nesheim were named to the all-tournament team for the Rustlers. Ethan is at Howard on Oct. 12.

Lyman drops trio of matches at Battler Tournament

GETTYSBURG — Lyman (3-19) competed in the Battler Tournament hosted by Potter County High School on Saturday.

The Raiders were defeated by Philip (25-17, 25-8), Ipswich (28-26, 25-16) and Potter County (25-12, 25-3). Individual statistics were not immediately available. Lyman hosts Jones County on Oct. 12.
