Argument leads to rolling gunfire along I-270 in Bridgeton, one shot

BRIDGETON, Mo. – One person was shot after an argument led to rolling gunfire Wednesday along Interstate 270 in Bridgeton.

Investigators say a man in his 60s was wounded and treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a hospital. The shooting apparently followed a dispute between individuals in two vehicles.

The Bridgeton Police Department reports that the shooting happened around 12:40 p.m. as two drivers were heading in the northbound lanes of I-270. Gunfire emerged on the interstate between St. Charles Rock Road and Missouri Bottom Road.

The alleged shooter’s vehicle continued northbound on I-270 while the other came to a stop. Police say the gunperson was possibly in a white SUV with unknown license tags.

Locals say they aren’t surprised about something like this happening.

“It happens everywhere,” Brian Temple, a driver, said. “There’s a lot of rage out here on this road. I pray that when I leave the house, I make it back home safely…you just don’t know.”

The Bridgeton Police Department is handling the investigation and asking for anyone with additional information to contact their department at 314-739-7557 or 314-373-3876.
