ARH-Beckley offers free health screenings at Healthy Heart Fair
BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — ARH Medical Mall in Beckley will offer free screenings for the heart on February 9, 2024, and February 23, 2024.
The screenings are by walk-in only, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on each day.
Staff will provide EKG, stroke assessment, lipid panels, vitals and glucose checks, along with CPR training.
Fasting prior to the screenings helps provide more accurate test results.

A cardiologist at ARH Cardiology Associates said signs of heart disease are often silent.
“There are multiple heart and cardiovascular diseases that you don’t feel anything,
said Dr. Chayakrit Krittanawong, M.D., FACC, a cardiologist at ARH Cardiology Associates. ” Or sometimes, you’ll feel tired, some shortness of breath, but you can have signs of heart disease, heart blockages or heart attack.”

Dr. Krittanawong said health screenings help doctors to assess risks for heart disease and, in some cases, to detect prior heart events.
