Ariana Grande’s new boyfriend, Ethan Slater, reportedly files for divorce from current wife

Ariana Grande’s new boyfriend is filing for divorce from his estranged wife.

Ethan Slater, the star of the “Spongebob Squarepants” Broadway musical, filed the documents Wednesday, intending to separate from wife Lilly Jay, according to TMZ.

Slater and Jay were reportedly high school sweethearts who married in 2018 and have one son together.

While it’s unknown what Slater listed as the reason for the divorce, it doesn’t come as a complete surprise, as stories have been swirling about Slater’s new romance with pop star Grande after the two met on the set of “Wicked.”

According to TMZ, sources close to Jay have shared that she is heartbroken and feels as though Slater has essentially abandoned his young family.

A source close to Slater and Grande’s relationship was quoted as saying, “It’s understandable that emotions are high and it’s hard seeing your ex move on, especially in such a public way, and her friends are trying to protect her.

“But Ari and Ethan are just trying to lay low and be respectful of their exes as they pursue this new relationship,” the source added.

Grande was reported to be in the process of divorcing her own husband, Dalton Gomez, just last week. The couple were said to be “having issues” even before she left to film the “Wicked” adaptation and met Slater.

Slater and Grande have not been seen out together since last week, when their relationship became public. They have reportedly been together, though, for the past several months.
