Ariana Grande Cancels Show After Difficulty Breathing While Singing
Ariana Grande tried to push through a respiratory illness that has been wreaking havoc on her health, but the star is admitting she hasn't recovered at all and is, unfortunately, canceling a scheduled show in Lexington.
The 26-year-old singer had warned fans the day before that she may have to scrap her Sunday show at Kentuck's Rupp Arena. Sunday morning she woke up and filmed a video for fans, tearfully announcing that the show would not go on.

"I woke up kind of 10 times worse and it hurts so bad to swallow. I’m not really sure what’s going on. But, I, unfortunately, don’t think I will be able to push through tonight. I am so sad and sorry. I’m so upset but of course obviously, you will be refunded.
“I’m just really devastated,” Ariana added. “Thank you for understanding and sending love. I will keep you posted as soon as I know what is going on with my body. Thank you for understanding and I am so sorry.”
The singer also showed herself breathing on a device emitting steam, which apparently helps ease the pain on her throat and assists with her breathing, which was a major issue during a recent performance.
She Knew It Was Coming
Ariana Grande has been pushing through performances recently during her "Sweetener" tour, which kicked off back in March and is set to end December 22 at The Forum in Inglewood, CA. However, she admitted to fans this weekend that Sunday's concert was in jeopardy.
Taking to her Instagram Stories, Grande penned a long letter to her fans.
"so I'm still very sick ... I've been sick since the last London show. i don't know how it's possible but my throat and head are still in so much pain. I sound okay I'm just in a lot of pain and it's difficult to breathe during the show. I am seeing my doctor and trying my v best to get better for tomorrow's show. the last thing I would ever want to do is cancel a show at this point with so few left. I'm truly cherishing every moment of this ... I just really don't know what's happening with my body right now and need to figure it out. please take this as a gentle heads up ... I don't want anyone to feel blindsided tomorrow if God forbid I can't make the show happen."
As for what she was doing to try and beat the sickness, Grande listed her extensive treatment plan.
"I'm on all the meds. getting IV drips, doing everything I possibly can to pull through. mom and friends are taking good care of me. just a scary feeling. love you with all my heart and will keep you posted."
Fans Aren't Mad
In the wake of her illness, Ariana Grande's fans are getting together to share memories about her tour and wish the singer a speedy recovery. One of the singer's fan groups in Lexington sent Grande a photo of themselves hanging out and wrote to her:
"We miss you and wish you were here but don’t worry....we’re enjoying our time with each other. It’s a huge family here right now coming together to laugh, love, and discuss our fav tour memories."
