Ariana Grande joins peaceful protest for George Floyd’s death: ‘We were loud, we were loving’
Ariana Grande was among the celebrities who joined in the Black Lives Matter protests over the weekend to raise awareness about police brutality following the murder of George Floyd by a white policeman.
On Saturday, numerous people shared photos and videos of the singer, carrying a “Black lives matter” sign, marching in the crowd in Los Angeles.
“Ariana Grande is one of the biggest artists in the world. Not only did she use her platform to express her anger and pain towards what’s going on she also participated in the streets with the rest of the protesters,” one person tweeted alongside a photo of the 26-year-old.
The Seven Rings singer also shared photos from the protests, while imploring people to acknowledge the peaceful nature of the march.
“Hours and miles of peaceful protesting yesterday that got little to no coverage,” Grande wrote on Twitter. “All throughout Beverly Hills and West Hollywood we chanted, people beeped and cheered along.

Grande concluded the post with the hashtag #BLACKLIVESMATTER, before reminding her more than 74.2m followers to “stay active, stay energised, keep sharing, keep learning”.
“Sending strength and if you are protesting today please be safe,” the singer tweeted Sunday.

Grande’s in-person support for the protests comes after she encouraged her followers to find ways to help, either through petitions, donations or conversations with family and friends.
“Please keep signing these petitions, making donations, having conversations with family and friends about it, reading and sharing links and resources… gentle reminder that this doesn’t end today or tomorrow or after you post about it once,” she tweeted.
In addition to Grande, stars including Halsey and Tinashe have used their platforms to raise awareness of the worldwide protests, while Chrissy Teigen and Janelle Monáe have donated money to help pay for protestors’ bail, while encouraging their followers to do the same.
