Ariel Winter Ditched Her Dark Hair After the “Modern Family” Finale

ABC's Modern Family is saying goodbye after 11 seasons this spring, and one of its stars, Ariel Winter, is already moving on from her character — beauty-wise.

The actor, who began playing Alex Dunphy when she was just 11 years old, recently dyed her hair back to a fun bright red shade after rocking Alex's signature glossy dark brunette for the show’s 11-year tenure.

On February 25, Ariel shared a few pics and videos of herself with the dark hair to Instagram before making the change, writing, "Bye bye dark hair. I don't think I'll miss you." Though Ariel looks amazing as a brunette, it seems as though she was ready for something different. And she definitely got it because she now sports a ginger ‘do.

Ariel debuted her her light red hair on IG a day later, which she styled in tousled waves over her shoulder. "I’m a strawberry and a shortcake sooooo new nickname?" she quipped in the caption (we love it).

The Modern Family star also took her new red 'do out on the town this weekend when she attended the L.A. screening of Burden on February 27. She sported an emerald green dress, which complimented the new color perfectly.

Earlier this month, Ariel hinted at the change by posting a throwback pic of herself with strawberry strands and writing, "Can't wait to get back to this hair color." We've also seen her rocking blonde wigs for Halloween, proving that there's really not a color she can't pull off. Now that she's not required to be brunette for Modern Family reasons, we can't wait to see how this beauty risk-taker changes up her look!
