ArisuAnime,large-scale anime and manga store, opens in Mystic

Jul. 10—"With Arisu, my vision is to create a shop that when a customer enters, they will feel like they were transported to Japan," Arisu Anime Owner Ellie Greenberg previously told Hearst Connecticut. Arisu Anime is Greenberg's fourth shop located in Olde Mistick Village, following in the footsteps of The Cloak and Wand, a "Harry Potter"-inspired fantasy store, Alice's Haunted Little Bookshop and Alice in the Village, a tea room taken from the pages of Lewis Carrol's "Alice in Wonderland."

To find the shop in Olde Mistick Village, keep an eye out for the large Totoro figure outside of Arisu Anime, which looms over passerby. Inside the shop, the store boasts statues of classic anime characters such as Vegeta and Monkey D. Luffy, and also has its own Gachapon machines, which are similar to sticker vending machines found in grocery stores.

"Always a kid in heart, I love taking a theme I'm passionate about and transforming it to an immersive experience [that] everyone can enjoy...no matter how old they are," Greenberg told Hearst Connecticut in December.

Arisu Anime also has a large selection of Japanese foods that range from instant Ramen, of which more than 50 types are available for purchase, to Hello Kitty-branded chocolate snacks. According to Special Projects Manager of Arisu Anime, Shannon Rogers, all products are shipped directly from Japan in order to "provide the most authentic experience possible."

Those looking at visiting can keep an eye on Arisu Anime's Instagram page, where the shop will post restocking updates.
